Shrine Room

Shrine Rooms are special rooms that contain shrines which grant or modify floor mechanics and a positive effect which enhances the run. They are one of the first rooms Isaac encounters in Revelations floors.

If the shrine room is exited without first activating a shrine, both of the effects will activate and a "You've made a mistake" message will be displayed. If unlocked and possible, a Champion boss will be forced.

Glacier[edit | edit source]

Glacier Prank will appear and wreck havoc in some Glacier rooms by stealing pickups and by other means until defeated. An extra pickup can appear in rooms.
When Prank dies he will drop all the items he has stolen.
Pact of Radiance

Chill rooms appear more often.
The Shrine room becomes a Chill room.
Warmth auras and smaller and Grill O' Wisps move faster
Warmth auras increase Isaac's stats when inside.
Pact of Fragility

Rooms with ice pits and ice enemies appear more often
The Shrine room's floor becomes entirely coated in ice.
Ice pits can crack and break when stepped on
Ice Hazards will follow Isaac.
Enemies on ice pits will freeze over time.

Pact of Revival

Rooms with Revival Rags and other revival mechanics appear more often.
Revival mechanics are more dangerous, and any revival rag can spawn with a revival projectile on top.
Necragmancers can spawn a heart when killed.
Buffed rag enemies have a chance to become permanently charmed.
Pact of Peril

Trap rooms appear more often.
Most Traps deal more damage and are more dangerous.
Monsters spawned from Coffins have a chance to be permanently charmed.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Shrines were introduced in Chapter 2.
  • Permanent positive effects were removed and replaced with stage-specific positive effects in Sin Update. Some of these permanent effects were moved into new items.
    • Willo is based on one of Pact of Radiance's original positive effects.
    • Maxwell's Horn is based on one of Pact of Peril's original positive effects.
